The Third "Art About West Lake" and The First Meeting of the Association of West Lake International Artists Conference
I. Mission
To promote fine arts and culture; to build a spiritual homestead; to provide a platform for dialogues between artists from different countries within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization; to offer an atmosphere of international humanities exchange in which the creation of art and the development of human culture will flourish; and to contribute to the common desire for a harmonious society, human civilization, and world peace.

Activities:
Organize the "International Painting Art Conference and Exhibition" and opening ceremony;
Organize the "3rd Art About West Lake International Art Conference" and the first membership meeting of the Association of West Lake International Artists; Award of the "West Lake Honorary Artist" trophy and certificate;
Organize visits to scenic spots and historical and cultural relics, including the West lake, the Xixi National Wetland Park; Coordinate the planting of the "Evergreen Friendship" tree;
Organize on-site artist exchange activities; Coordinate "Golden Age" artists get-together with students at the Academy of Fine Arts; Organize the First Day of Issue Ceremony of the "International Painting Art Conference and Exhibition" Catalogue.

V. Artists Criteria and Benefits
Invitation Criteria:
This programme is a high-level international artist summit with a focus on artists from member-countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. We plan to invite prominent and reputable artists from countries including: Italy, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, France, United States, Germany, Slovenia, Austria, Australia, Canada, Ukraine, Korea, Japan, the Philippines, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and China (including Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan).
Invitee Benefits:
The organizers will cover travel expenses to and from the programme (excluding international travel costs and business/first class);
The organizers will cover hotel accommodation and ground transportation in Hangzhou, and the costs of activities as arranged by the organizers;
Artists will be invited to attend the governmental reception banquet, and to attend organized visits to various scenic spots and historical and cultural relics;
Each artist is required to present one piece of exhibited work to the sponsors;
The organizers will present each invited artist with 2-3 copies of the "International Painting Art Conference and Exhibition" Catalogue, a copy of the video and photographs of the programme, certificate, and related materials;
The organizers will present one souvenir to each invited artist;
The organizers will arrange for interested artists to attend live-drawing sessions at scenic spots around the city of Hangzhou, with costs covered by the sponsors.
Submittal Criteria:
Each invitee should be representative realism artist in his/her country;
Invitees from China should bring two (2) pieces of artwork. Invitees from other countries should bring three (3) pieces of artwork. Oil paintings should measure around one (1) cubic metre, not smaller than 60x60cm (artists may choose not to bring the inner and outer frames). Chinese paintings may not be smaller than a half 4-feet sheet and may not exceed 90cm in width (artists may choose to submit work without frames). Artists are required to present one piece of exhibited work to the organizers. Information may be submitted via email;
Chinese painting artists should bring their signature chops for use during on-site artist exchange activities;
Each artist must submit, no later than July 20, 2009, the following information for the publication of the catalogue: artist biography, personal picture, color slides of the exhibited works, and names, dimensions and related information of the exhibited works;
Each artist is required to present one piece of artwork produced during live-drawing sessions to the organizers;
The organizers reserve the right to publish and use for publicity all exhibited works and all artworks presented by the artists;
Other items may be negotiated between each artist and the organizers.
