In this month of June dedicated to the Biennale we've decided to choose Achille Bonito Oliva as personage of the month, just because he is an art critic loved and hated but recognized as a genius in this field. He was born in Caggiano, near Salerno, in 1939 and it is the most famous and known art critic in the world, a talent scout and a revolutionary man towards contemporary art.
He invented the Transavanguarde that gave back life to painting and freed the art market from false constrictions.
He traced the line for the last Venice Biennale events, where he had been curator of a memorable edition that everyone tried to made equal.
If Italy were a normal country, it would be a great thing to name him as curator of the Venice Biennale for the rest of his life, being the most qualified person to take this role, in good or in bad, considering the very bad editions of the past years within you can only save, as our thoughts, the last one by Harald Szeemann.
